WESTON, MASS./FRENCHBORO – Frank T. Giamo of Weston, Mass., and Frenchboro passed away Aug. 25, 2016 at age 98. Born in Waltham, Mass., he was the son of the late Dominic and Grace (Lazaro) Giamo.

A longtime resident of Weston, Frank started and owned Giamo Aluminum and Contracting Co. that manufactured safety arms for ladders, and founded, with a colleague, the company FranCon. He lived on Long Island, Maine, for over 20 years, where he used his skills as a spotter for the fishing industry.

His dear friends from Maine, whom he called “my adopted family,” continued to stay close to him. If you asked Frank what he did for a living, he said “everything: home improvement, fisherman!” His longevity of life was a gift to all who knew him, his memory amazing, and his stories and experiences kept you in awe and brought you into his generation. He loved life and work.

He is survived by his sister Doris T. Giamo and his sister-in-law Roseanne Giamo, both of Weston; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was the former husband of the late Marjorie (Dalzell) Giamo; father of the late Ross T. Giamo and brother of the late Mary Duddy, Minnie Martenson and Joseph Giamo. A special tribute, thanks and recognition to Tina Ferrelli-Chartrand, a close cousin, neighbor and a caring, devoted friend.

Funeral will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made in Frank’s memory to the Visiting Nurses Association Care-Hospice, 254 Second Ave., Suite 200, Needham, MA 02494, vnacare.org.

Obit- WarrenELLSWORTH – Leeona Christine Marie Warren – The world welcomed an angel child in the early morning hours of Aug. 25, 2016. She was immediately placed peacefully into the arms of her loving father, Matthew Warren.

She is forever survived by Matthew and Kassie Herrick-Warren, her mother. Together they had chosen the name of Leeona Christine Marie Warren. She was named after her great-great-grandmother, her Mammie Joe, and a special cousin, Laura Marie. Leeona was born absolutely beautiful and touched the hearts of every life she came across. From there her heart kept reaching out as she donated enough of herself and her most vital organs to save the life of five other babies. The fact that her heart continues to beat in the lives of others brings great comfort to those left behind.

Her grandparents, Tammy and Danny Herrick of Gouldsboro; Melanie Warren, Dale and Doe Cook, Paul and Jody Warren, all of Ellsworth, their hearts have been broken by this tragedy. She also leaves behind many aunts and uncles, Jordan Herrick of Epping, N.H., Emily, Jonathan and Kristen and spouse, Josh Morren, all of Ellsworth. She will be in the hearts of her many great-grandparents and a special great-great-grandmother, Leona Mae Denbow of Lubec. Leeona’s memory will also be tucked into the hearts and souls of her godparents, Levi and Destiny Soper of Ellsworth.

“As close to my heart as you will ever be, forever and always, you and me.”

Any donations in her honor can be made to Born To Fly, a nonprofit organization created by Zelli of Zi Photography. Born to Fly provides memorial photography services at no cost to families who suffer the loss of a baby. These photos capture the beauty of these little angels for their families to treasure forever. www.ziphotographymaine.com

Obit- DeckersLAMOINE – Annette Jeanne Deckers – Our beloved and beautiful Annette died peacefully on Aug. 21, 2016. We held her hand and kissed her face as she passed from this world and went to a place where pain can no longer reach her. Everyone who knew her loved her kindness; this will always be with us.

Annette Jeanne (Thurston) Deckers was born in Bar Harbor on Oct. 29, 1958, to Lucille (Farley) Walton and Maurice Thurston. She was a most caring daughter to her parents. Annette was a loving mother to her children, Jessica Rogers and Thomas Deckers. The time spent with her children gave her the most joy. She was so proud of the adults they had grown into. She was a sweet sister to her siblings, Dolores, Tammy, Denise and Dennis. She had great love and deepest of affections for her fiancé, Steve Wardman. And she held a special place in her heart for Phil Deckers. Aunt Nette was a great friend to all her nieces and nephews. She had a loving place in her heart for all her family and friends.

Annette had a huge “green thumb” and always had a garden that would be the envy of all her friends. Family could always count on getting a special basket at Christmas time filled with all the canned vegetables from that garden. She helped many of us learn the finer skills of planting, harvesting and canning. Every year she would visit the garden show with her family, where we would all admire the flowers, especially the lilies.

She enjoyed many pastimes; painting, knitting, quilting and scrapbooking. Her cooking and baking skills were very much admired and enjoyed by family and friends. She mastered many recipes handed down to her from her Nanny Marion Farley and mother Lucille. She enjoyed playing tennis with her “tennis gals.” She always said that playing tennis was her cure for the winter blues. Annette always had many furry friends around her to keep her company. Her German shepherd, Simon, and tabby-cat, William, will miss her caring voice and loving attention.

Annette had so many different facets to her life; it’s impossible to mention them all. We will remember her as a vivacious woman with great style, a fun-loving friend, a compassionate sister and a thoughtful daughter; she will be forever missed.

Gifts in memory of Annette may be sent to the MCMH Foundation – Mary Dow Center, 50 Union St., Ellsworth, ME 04605 for the Annette J. Deckers Memorial Fund. Donations will also be accepted at the Celebration of Life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lamoine State Park waterfront, 23 State Park Road, Lamoine on Sunday, Sept. 11, between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m.

Condolences may be expressed at www.acadiacremation.com.

Frost and partner, Torrey; great-granddaughter Jessica Greenlaw; and special grand-dog, Bella; three sisters, Joanne Smith and husband, James, of Milbridge, Hortense Hutchins of Milbridge, and Vera Helen Robertson of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Mary “Peggy” Freeman and Mary Preble; brother-in-law, Charles Sargent. Elaine Alice (Grindle) Puckett

HANCOCK – Elaine Alice (Grindle) Puckett, born Nov. 11, 1937, on Mount Desert Island, died in Ellsworth on Sept. 14 with family by her side. She was the youngest daughter of Ada Carter and George Grindle. She leaves behind her husband, Vincent, Vincent Jr. and Michelle, Randy, Cindy and Jay Groesbeck, Martin and Kari, and sisters Jeanette, Georgia and Sibbie. She was predeceased by Eleanor and Dot.

Having a big heart and warm embrace, she loved being around children and for many years she ran a day care (much to the irritation of her youngest son) out of their home in Hancock. She was known for her homemade treats including whoopie pies, blueberry cake and molasses cookies that will never be replicated (due to one of Vince’s overzealous yard sales, where he sold the recipe book; Elaine eventually did forgive him, but it was just as well since she did have diabetes). The family and friends cherish many fond memories (many of which Randy denies ever happened): cucumber sandwiches on the beach in Branford, campfires and illegal fireworks that were not admired by neighbors and police at Webb Pond (Elaine was not a rat fink), delivering lobsters with her husband, RVing in the winter months in the Southwest and many late nights of board games and cards where rules would change multiple times within a game.

Elaine was hilariously funny, a jokester, and quite zany (which is why it took a while to realize she had dementia). The antics would quickly escalate when the Grindle sisters would get together which caused the husbands to retreat. She was happiest when surrounded by family, their spouses, and grandchildren: Jason, Jillian, Clarissa, Ryan, Keilani, and Sabine. She looked forward to the holidays, knowing the family would get together. She was active in her community and served as president of the Hancock Women’s Club.

A celebration in the memory of Elaine will be held Oct. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Jasper’s in Ellsworth.
