Ellsworth
Ida W. Hamilton, 91, died Oct. 26, 2022, at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth. She was born in Ellsworth, Feb. 19, 1931, the daughter of Deless M. and Catherine M. (Jude) Watts.
Ida attended school in Ellsworth, graduating in 1948. She married Milton I. Hamilton Sr. in 1949. Together they raised their family in Ellsworth. She enjoyed her work for the DA’s office, county treasurer and at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.
Ida loved to knit, cook and bake for everyone, including the Fire Department, Irene Chapter No. 97, Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered at Ellsworth Fire Department women’s auxiliary.
We will always treasure our memories of her playing with her grandchildren and enjoying their sports.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Milton I. Hamilton Sr.; sons, Milton I. Hamilton Jr (Buddy), Theodore Hamilton and wife, Helen; Philip Hamilton and wife, Karen; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons Calvin Hamilton and Robert, who died at birth, and sister Nancy Leeman.
Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m., Nov. 4, 2022, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. Contributions in Ida’s memory may be made to the Senator Hale Hose Company, Ellsworth Fire Department, 1 City Hall Plaza, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
