Jason A. Anderson, 41, passed away peacefully Oct. 19, 2022, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born Dec. 21, 1980, the son of Nathan and Marti (Eiseman) Anderson, of Lamoine.

Jason’s love of music started early when he asked for piano lessons in third grade at Lamoine Consolidated School. Two years later he learned to play French horn in the school band. While a freshman at Ellsworth High, he discovered that wonderful tenor voice of his, which eventually led to a fulfilling teaching career. Jason always had a great love for learning and teaching. He graduated from Ellsworth High School (’99), UMaine (’03 and ’05G) and Southern New Hampshire University (’16G). One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming an Eagle Scout; the leadership skills he learned guided him throughout his life.

Moving to Houlton was a blessing. Besides a rewarding teaching career, he met and married his soul mate, Jennifer, and became Dad to Rhetta and Isaac. Jason was a loving husband, father, son and friend to the many lives he touched. He loved and cherished the time he would spend on Nickerson Lake with his family and friends; boat rides at sunset were his specialty. He also leaves behind many school and professional friends as well as many inspired students. Jason taught vocal music in Rutland and Woodstock, Vt. He finished his teaching career with nine years at Houlton Middle Senior High School. In fall of 2019 he began his career with the Maine Department of Education as a state education leader. Jason did all things with passion and pride and one thing is for certain, of all the things he was … he cherished being a husband and father the most.

Jason is survived by his wife of nine years, Jennifer (Riley) Vega; daughter, Rhetta Vega; son, Isaac Vega; his parents, Marti and Nate; his brother, Travis, and wife, Misty, and their children, Evan and Ellie; and we can’t forget his canine pal, Jackson.

A celebration of Jason’s life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at the Military St. Baptist Church, 307 Military St., Houlton. There will be a scholarship created in Jason’s name for students to attend summer music camp. Please send donations to Houlton Middle Senior High School, ℅ Kevin Mania, 7 Bird St., Houlton, ME 04730.
