Janet Korzekwa McGrath, 65, beloved wife of Paul K. McGrath, passed away peacefully Oct. 23, 2022, of COVID-19 pneumonia. Janet was born in Hobbs, N.M., to Clement Korzekwa and Marge Korzekwa Denning.

Janet’s career as a software developer for DOD, FedEx and GIS was followed by an active life as a volunteer at the Winter Harbor Library and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Somerset County. She and her husband of 35 years, Paul, loved to hike and explore the natural environment all over the country as their careers brought them to Colorado, Montana, California, Arkansas and Maine. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner, a devoted environmentalist and a lover of food and life. She will be remembered for her quiet strength and her kindness.

Janet is survived by her husband, her mother and siblings David, Ken, Mike, Dianne, Rick, Bob and Steve as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and in-laws. She will always be loved and treasured.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to one of these organizations: the Winter Harbor Library, P.O. Box 326, Winter Harbor, ME 04693; SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605 or the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Arrangements by Acadia Burial and Cremation Direct, 248 State St., Ellsworth.
