Brooksville

Miriam F. Black went to be with her Lord on June 12, 2022. She was born in Brooksville on Aug. 9, 1934, the daughter of Fred and Hannah (Carter) Nutter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert, her four brothers, her dearly beloved younger sister, Emma Gray, and her precious grandson, Darin Black, who was the apple of her eye.

Miriam worked many years at the Deer Isle Nursing Home, going over and above her line of duty, for she loved her residents very much and enjoyed her work.

She will be remembered for her poetry, her love for country music, dancing and helping out with the various benefits.

Miriam was an avid Grange member, belonging to Arbutus No. 450, Hancock Pomona #13, state and national Granges. She did many handcrafts and loved setting up at the Blue Hill Fair.

She is survived by her two sons, William and Lewis Black and his wife, Jenny; her two daughters, Roberta Mann and Cassie Moon and her husband, Steve; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren as well as her very dear friends, Brenda Rankin, Dave Taylor and Edith Hutchinson.

Special thanks to the Northern Light Home Care and Hospice of Hancock County nurse, Sue.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 7, 2022, at noon at her home in Brooksville.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the SPCA of Hancock County or The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield.
