Brooksville
Gerald W. Austin, 74, of Brooksville, left us on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021. He was the son of William Austin of Penobscot, Maine and the late Jeanne Austin.
Jerry graduated from the University of Maine and earned his master’s in mechanical engineering from Bucknell. After retiring from Verizon, Jerry pursued his love of Porsche. He traveled the country providing data analysis to increase the racer performance and was a national scrutineer for Porsche Cup car series. He was a master woodworker, wood lot manager and metal fabricator.
He had a deep love of family. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon J. Austin. He also leaves four siblings: John (wife Maryann), Janet, and Robert Austin, and twin Judy (husband Dick McKay).
His heart belonged to his children Tara and Joe Frazier, Cherri Waters, Trent and Laurie Austin, and Shane Osborne and Mark Ross. He loved being Papa to Austin and Meredyth Waters and Bridget Frazier.
We will miss the twinkle in those blue eyes, his quick wit and how he loved us all.
A private service will be held at a later date.
