
Bar Harbor
Carolyn (Gee) Maude Howard, 77, of Bar Harbor passed away peacefully on July 6, 2021, at Westgate Manor. She was born to Maude Miller on June 29, 1944.
She married Gene Howard in Trenton on May 16, 1981. Her and Gene met on April 13, 1978, and both would agree their life started after that. Their love for their children and grandchildren brought them the most joy. Their house was known as “Gee’s World” because it truly was a different world to be there.
She was a self taught hairdresser for 50 years. Carolyn loved her family, animals and children. Her passion came from giving to others and being around those she loved. She gave many haircuts to those who lived on the Island and could often be seen riding around town on her scooter. She is described by many as having the biggest heart of anyone they knew.
She is survived by her children, Walt “Haw-Haw” Hooper, Town Hill, Jeff “Seffy” Hooper, Trenton, Marie “Mimi” Hooper, Town Hill, Genia Chambliss, Kimberly Howard Choate and Heather Shorey; her sibling, Louise Bunker; grandchildren Chantell Hooper, Brienna Denecker (Tinker), Carissa Tinker, Branden Hooper, Bradley Hooper, Billy Howard, Anthony Tercyak, Ramsey Tercyak, David Dineen, Charlotte Choate, Annie Shorey, Kate Shorey and Matthew Shorey; She is also survived by many great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, Maude Miller, her sisters Emily Anderson, Maxine Gardiner, Elvira “Tootsie” Libby and one brother, Gerald “Sonny” Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 2, at VFW Post 419, 109 Main St. in Ellsworth.
