Harriet M. Sprague, 86, died peacefully at her home on Jan. 3, 2021. She was born April 12, 1934, in Mariaville, the youngest of nine children, daughter of Albert and Ella (Dunham) Frost.
Harriet graduated from Ellsworth High School, Class of 1952. She married her husband of 67 years, Lester Sprague, on June 7, 1953. She was active in the local Extension and Garden Club as well as a member of the Otis Baptist Church. She never missed an opportunity to play a game of cards or solve a game show puzzle. Harriet loved an adventure; she enjoyed many fun vacations with family and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Lester; daughters, Katherine Clark, Lynda Baum and husband, Joseph, Christine Donovan and husband, Shaun, Rosemary Hawkes and husband, Donnie Freelove; grandchildren, Sara Rideout, Tracey Glinko, Keely Widdecombe, Joseph (Tucker) Baum, Sam Hawkes, Kaylyn Keane and Buster Brown; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters.
A graveside interment will be held at the Frost Cemetery, Mariaville, in the spring.
Contributions in Harriet’s memory may be made to the Tomorrow Fund, RI Hospital Campus, 539 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903 to assist the fight of childhood leukemia in honor of her 4-year-old great-grandson, Sammy Hawkes.
