WINTER HARBOR
Mark A. Davis died suddenly of natural causes Thursday, June 11, 2020. He was born in Huntington, W.Va., Aug. 31, 1958, and was adopted by his mother, Betty Jean, on Valentine’s Day 1960. When she remarried, her husband, William Davis, adopted Mark into his heart, as well.
In the late 1970s, Mark joined the Army and served in Germany, specializing in electronic communications. After returning to America, he worked on oil rigs in Texas, and then lived in Florida again for a while. That’s when he decided to move to Maine. During this time, he worked at the Seal Harbor Garage, Winter Harbor Garage and then Andrews Garage in Sullivan, where he worked for many years and met many good people.
In 1995, he met Catherine Gerrish of Winter Harbor and together they raised her son, Nathan, and their three sons, Bradley, Hunter and Jaden. Mark proudly owned and operated Town Line Auto in Winter Harbor, where he met many good friends, too. As they got older, Nathan and Brad were enlisted to help be the muscle in the garage. Sadly, in 2017, after Mark’s last spinal injury, he was no longer able to work in the garage. That is when he became a full-time Mr. Mom.
Mark was a loving and caring, yet reserved, man who had a soft spot in his heart for animals. He loved a good challenge, whether it was a stubborn vehicle that didn’t want to come apart, working on his ’65 Ford or his Falcon, putting together models or running slot cars with the boys. When he was able, he loved to get on his Harley and go for rides with Cathy.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Betty Jean and Bill Davis of Florida. Surviving are the love of his life, Cathy, and their sons, Nathan and his wife, Megan, Brad, Hunter and Jaden, all of Winter Harbor. Also surviving are his children, Jamie and her husband, Nicolas Purnell, and their three children, Ryker, Piper and Livia; Christie Weymeyer and her husband, William, and their children Wyatt, Brady and Abel; and Jay Briscoe and his girlfriend, Chrisi. Mark’s life was cut too short and he will be missed by many.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no services at this time, but we hope to hold a celebration of life at a later date.
