William M. Hanley Jr., 77, died Jan. 31, 2020, after a long illness, at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital. He was born July 15, 1942, in Meriden, Conn., the son of William M. Sr. and Mary (Petrisky) Hanley.
William graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Middletown, Conn., in 1959. Following graduation, William followed his passion and bought an interest in a dairy farm in Colchester, Conn. In 1964, he moved to Franklin, N.Y., to continue farming, and that is where he met his wife, Eileen M. Seward. They married in 1968 and started their family. In 1970, the family moved to Maine, where they raised their children on a dairy farm for the next 25 years. After his children were grown, William returned to Franklin, N.Y., in 1995 to work until his retirement alongside his nephew Aaron.
William is survived by the mother of his children, Eileen Darling; his children, Margaret Tull and husband, Daniel, of Sycamore, Kan., Colleen Reed and husband, Chuck, of Sedgwick, William M. Hanley III and wife, Kathleen, of Franklin, N.Y., Bridget DeMott and husband, Robert, of Unadilla, N.Y., Maryellen Hanley of Endwell, N.Y., and Patrick Hanley and Esther Jacobs of Bass Harbor; 10 grandchildren, Ben Stone, Kayla Pare, Dakota Hanley, Toni Walley, Alexander Hanley, Mason Gillette, Olivia DeMott, Lucas DeMott, Erin Hinckley and Patrick Hanley; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Pedrolini and Ellen Uliase; nieces Tina Caplan and Sheila Terry; nephew Joseph Uliase Jr.; special friends, Margaret Alley, Holly Gillette, Matt Terry and the Goodwin Family. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers-in-law, Albert Pedrolini and Joseph Uliase Sr.; and a very special nephew, Aaron Seward Jr.
