ELLSWORTH
Pavlina Petkova, 53, resident of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at her residence with her beloved husband and son by her side. She was born June 13, 1965, in Sofia, Bulgaria, daughter of Mano and Margarita (Bencheva) Manov. She attended schools in Bulgaria and received both her master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Sofia University.
Pavlina moved to the United States in 2010 to pursue her career as a research scientist at Jackson Laboratories and married Petko Petkov in 2013.
She enjoyed cooking, taking vacations and caring for her family.
Pavlina is survived by her husband, her mother, her son Stoyan and her stepson Mihayl. She was predeceased by her father.
Services will be held in Bulgaria at a later date. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Jackson Laboratory Summer Student Program, which Pavlina was an active supporter of.
