ELLSWORTH

Jon “Jack” Robert Forni, February 10, 1941 – July 7, 2018

Jack Forni, age 77, of Ellsworth, ME., passed away on July 7th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born February 10, 1941, on Hancock Point where he was raised by his loving parents Dante and Mary Forni, along with siblings Eleanor, Jean and Thomas.

A genuine pillar of the community, Jack ran his barber shop in Ellsworth for over 50 years. His beaming sense of humor, love of sports and conversation brought him more than just customers, but lifelong friends. If a customer was ill, Jack traveled to their bedside to cut their hair and always brought a smile.

He often traveled on vacations with friends, visiting China, the Amazon, and Paris among others. He kept several photos of his travels in his shop for interested customers.

Jack served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was also a diligent worker for the American Diabetic Association. He was awarded a 50-year medal from the Joslin Diabetic Clinic in Boston which he proudly displayed in his barber shop.

He is survived by his children, Alex of Eastbrook and Tara of Denver, CO. As well as sister Eleanor and her husband Gene from Denver CO.; sister Jean of Venice FL., and granddaughters Morgan, Nicole and Mackenzi. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Thomas.

Many thanks to all his many dear friends who supported him for months with a very special thanks to Mary Maddox, Marc Blanchette and Cooper Friend. They went beyond all expectations. Jack and his entire family will be eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bangor Eastern Maine Hospital Diabetic Center in Jack’s name. For information regarding a celebration of life, please contact Morgan at 479-9332.
