Jean B. Richardson

ELLSWORTH

Jean B. Richardson, 80, died unexpectedly on May 7, 2018, with her family by her side at EMMC. She was born in Old Town Aug. 14, 1937, the daughter of Gilbert F. and Helena G. (Conant) Black.

During WWII, the family lived in Connecticut. At the end of the war, the family returned to Bass Harbor, where Jean attend school and graduated from Pemetic High School. Jean was a gifted seamstress and worked many years at Wallace Interiors. Upon retirement she and her husband, Richard, moved to Florida and spent 10 years enjoying the sun and warm weather. They returned to Ellsworth in 2014 due to Richard’s failing health. He passed away shortly after their return. She was active in the Moore School Senior Center and the Union Congregational Church in Ellsworth Falls.

She is survived by daughters Debora MacGown and husband, Bruce, of Surry and Carole Schoppe and husband, David, of Hancock; son Dale Martin ; sister Sarah Bridges of Ellsworth; brothers James Black and wife, Sally, of Northeast Harbor and Robert Black and wife, Cheryl, of Vermont; special friend Joyce Schoppe of Ellsworth; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Richardson, and daughter Lisa Martin.

A service of remembrance will be held on June 30 at 1 p.m. at the Union Congregational Church in Ellsworth Falls. Gifts in memory of Jean may be made to the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, 2 Falls Court, Ellsworth, ME 04605.
