BROOKLIN
George L. Allen, 95 of Brooklin died peacefully on Aug. 4, 2017, in the home where he was born. He was a proud Navy veteran of WWII. Over his lifetime he wore many hats — sea captain, boat builder, woodsman and folk art toymaker. George loved to tell stories and entertained audiences of all kinds from tourists to strangers on the street. But his favorite audiences were at the kitchen table or around a stove in a workshop. He had a will to live fully even when challenges made life hard.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Georgene Allen, and is survived by a son, David Allen, and wife, Sue, daughter Judy Allen and daughter Kathy Allen and her husband, Bob Weldon, and two grandchildren, Jason Pierce and Helen Allen-Weldon. In lieu of flowers and cards, PLEASE go on a boat, tell a story and dream big. A June 2018 celebration is planned.
