MARIAVILLE – Sharon A. Lacey, went to be with her Lord on April 14, at her home. She was born in Houlton, the daughter of Basil and Evelyn (Hardy) Jordan.
Sharon grew up in Bangor. In 1952, she and Rev. John A. Lacey Sr. were married. She was a devoted mother, and was very active in the life of all the churches where her husband was pastor. Those churches included several in Maine, two in Massachusetts and 26 years in Vernon, Conn. Sharon was also an assistant head of the Testing Department of the Hartford Board of Education. In retirement, she served for over 20
years as chair of the Board of Assessors for the town of Mariaville. She was director of operations for Literacy Solutions in Oxford and Norwalk, Conn., whose clients loved her and she loved her clients. She also served for years as chair of the Board of the Hockamun Valley Daycare in Connecticut, where she was held in the highest regard while raising her own six children. She leaves behind her husband, Rev. John A. Lacey Sr.; children, Jack Lacey and wife, Catherine, Shelley Castelot and husband, Larry, Patti Hee and husband, Jackson, Nancy Kellner and husband, Kenneth, Juli Black and husband, Andrew; daughter, Wendy Jayne Lacey who died in 1981; beloved daughter-in-law, Jill Coleman Lacey who died in 1979; 23 beloved grandchildren to whom she was much loved “Mimi”; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jayne Daly and husband Edward; half-sister, Mary Alice; half-brother, Tom, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A funeral service was held Monday, April 18, at the First Congregational Church, 2 Church St., Ellsworth with their dear friends Rev. Kate Winters and Rev. John McDuffie officiating. Interment will be at Brimmer Cemetery, Mariaville.
