ELLSWORTH — Cynthia “Cindy” Carter, 57, died unexpectedly April 13, 2017, at her home in Ellsworth. She was born on Oct. 26, 1959, in Bangor, the daughter of Donald and Carol (Wright) Carter.
Cindy graduated from Sumner Memorial High School, Class of 1978. Over the years she worked at multiple town offices, including the towns of Bar Harbor, Machiasport, Roque Bluffs, Otis and Hancock. She was currently the treasurer/tax collector at the Hancock town office. She also had completed three years of college at UMM for a degree in psychology. She had hopes to become a counselor.
Cindy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved with all of her heart. She also spent her spare time knitting, fishing, camping, riding her motorcycle and playing with her cats. She was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to be outside watching the birds. She had a faith in God and she believed in living life to the fullest.
Cindy is survived by her fiancé, Doug Jones, of Ellsworth; her daughter Amy Noyes and her husband, Josh, and their kids James, Levi and Raegan, of Topsfield; her daughter Michelle Bennett and husband, Charles, and their daughter Adelyn, of Sorrento; her stepdaughter Alison Bearer and husband, Greg, and their daughter Sadie, of Rochester, N.Y.; and her brothers Curt Carter of Gouldsboro and Todd Carter of Bar Harbor.
Cindy was predeceased by her father, Donald C. Carter, and her mother, Carol W. Carter, of Sullivan.
