CAPE ELIZABETH — Nancy Ann (Murray) Johnson, 77, passed away April 2, 2016, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Cape Elizabeth, Dec. 11, 1938, a daughter of the late William D. and Barbara (Leighton) Murray. She attended schools there graduating from Cape Elizabeth High School Class of 1957. Nancy was the oldest of 43 Murray grandchildren. In 1960, she graduated from The New England Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her RN. Nancy moved back to Maine and worked at in the Nephrology Unit at the Maine Medical Center and was a former member of the Nephrology Board. Later in her career she lived in Hancock, working at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in the ER Department. She then moved back to Cape Elizabeth and worked for Home Health Visiting Nurses.
Nancy was a member of the Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church, where she was active with Judy’s Food Pantry. She married Bruce M. Johnson and was the loving mother to Scott William Johnson and Diana Jill Fournier. She is survived by her wife of 21 years, Betty-Jane Shreve of Cape Elizabeth; one son, Scott Johnson and wife, Jennie, and granddaughter Nicole of Westhampton, Mass., and Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter, Diana Fournier and husband, Stephen, of South Portland, and their children, Deirdre Beaupre and husband, Andy, of Hyde Park, Vt., and Chase Fournier of Seattle, Wash.; and two step-grandchildren, Carlin and Carson Stimus; two sisters, Betty Mullin of Scarborough and Beverly Lowell and husband, Stephen, of Kennebunk; one brother, Gerald Murray and wife Sharon of Cape Elizabeth, and their son William D. Murray and his wife, Catherine, of Standish; daughter-in-law Marcie McCullough Yager and husband, Stephen, of Gorham, and their daughters Emily and Julia; and her son–in-law Colin McCullough and his two sons Carric and Gareth of Sutton, Mass.; and her uncle Arnold B. Murray of Cape Elizabeth.
A memorial service was held at the Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church.
