PENOBSCOT — Stuart James Leach, 25, born Feb. 9, 1991, son of Jesse and Dedra Robbins Leach of Penobscot, died March 24, 2016, in an automobile accident.
He attended Penobscot Elementary School and was a 2009 graduate of Bucksport High School, where he played football.
After graduating, he worked with his dad on the Bagaduce River raising oysters and worked with his brother Richard roofing and doing carpentry. When he was 10 years old, he spoke at the University of New England in Biddeford for career day about aquaculture and spoke before the legislature for the Marine Resource Committee.
Stuart loved camping at Alligator Lake, music, driving, hunting, fishing, being on the water, roofing, going to Stone House, 4-wheeling with his son Christopher, and loved everyone he met.
He is survived by his parents and son Christopher of Penobscot; the love of his life and fiancée Emily Damon of Orland; brother Richard Black and wife, Megan, and their children James and Mackenzie of Otis; brother Peter Leach and soul mate Elizabeth Bean of Bangor; sister Roseanne Vogell Honders and son Kase of Verona Island; Eric Moran, who was like a brother, of Verona Island; his football family; special niece, Madison Robinson, who called him “Bubby,” of Prospect; his son’s mother Elizabeth Cicoro of Brewer; maternal grandparents Edith Robbins Bartlett of Sedgwick and Barry Joy of Franklin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Wallace and Eva Leach; maternal grandfather (“Bampie”) Fuller Bartlett; brother Jesse Leach Jr.; special uncle William (Uncle Bill) Robbins; uncle Wallace Leach; and Auntie Glenyce Spaulding.
There will be a memorial service at the South Penobscot Baptist Church on April 16, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Jackson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute toward the funeral costs and the care of his son, Christopher. Donations can be sent to his brother, Richard Black, 37 Rocky Cove Road, Otis, ME 04605.
