MILBRIDGE/HANCOCK – Marjorie Ann (Herrick) Sprague, 66, passed away at home after a brief illness, surrounded by her family on March 3, 2017. Marge was born Feb. 19, 1951, to Edna Atherton and the late Frank Herrick Sr.
Marge was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Richard, in 2013. Marge and Richard met when she was 13 at the contra dances in Addison. Together they enjoyed going to dances at the Milbridge Vets Club and playing bingo at several area bingo halls for many years.
Marge was a hard worker, starting as a full-time mom of six when she was 23. She worked many seasonal jobs including blueberry raking and processing, wreath making, clamming, crab picking, fish processing and shrimp peeling. Marge was known for her homemade potato donuts that she made often for her family and neighborhood kids.
Marge loved her family (especially her grandchildren) very much. She will be greatly missed by her six children, including Richard Sprague Jr. and Denise, Laurie Morse and Dan, Melissa Jean and Adrien, Susan Sprague and John, Shawn Sprague and Tiffany, and Jennifer Perez and Wandick (Andy). Grandchildren, Christa, Tina, Johnathan, Daniel, Joshua, Allison, Anthony, Tia, Michaela, Christian, Amber, Nathan, Carolann, Caitlyn, Reyna, and Marshall and several great-grandchildren. Her mother, Edna Atherton, and four siblings, Sara Tracy, Mary Hooper, John Herrick, Marcia Hutchinson. Five sisters-in-law, Betty, Bernice, Charlene, Shirley and Judy. Several nieces and nephews, and a special friend Laurie Wallace.
She was predeceased by her brother Frank Herrick Jr.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
