BLUE HILL — Margaret “Peggy” Nellie Hodgdon, 87, passed away at her residence on March 25, 2016. She was born Aug. 4, 1928, the daughter of Austin and Leona (Kane) Staples. She grew up in Brooklin, graduated from Brooklin High School in 1946, and went on to attend the Providence Bible Institute. She was a member of the South Blue Hill Baptist Church, Sunday school superintendent for many years, and started a Ladies Bible Study in 1976. She was always willing to help others. Peggy and Kendall recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, Kendall Hodgdon, and son Dean Hodgdon, both of Blue Hill; a sister-in-law Margaret Staples of Brooklin; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Chester, Arnold, Kenneth, and Russell; sister Alice Allen Look, and twin sister Marjorie Champlin. A special thanks to Eleanor McFarland, Lucy Poole and Roxanne Sherman for their wonderful care.
Visiting hours will be 10-11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the South Blue Hill Baptist Church, 495 Falls Bridge Road, Blue Hill, with the service to immediately follow with Pastor Horace Varnum officiating. Interment will be at South Blue Hill Cemetery, South Blue Hill.
