Charles “Charlie” W. Bradbury, 84, passed away June 30, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth. He was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Franklin, the son of Floyd and Emily (Cripps) Bradbury.
He attended Ellsworth High School then entered the workforce where he had many different jobs until later finding his passion working for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. After retirement, he spent his time mowing local lawns and working alongside his best friend, Bullet Wilbur, in the woods. He married the love of his life, his late wife Loretta, in September of 1981.
You could often find Charlie at the Trading Post for breakfast with friends or on his porch watching the town. Charlie enjoyed traveling with his late wife Loretta and together they spent many winters in North Fort Myers, Fla. In the summer, he enjoyed his days up to his camp on Abrams Pond. He was an avid Red Sox fan, whether it be spring training in Florida or two trips to Boston in one week or simply watching every game from his living room. Charlie also enjoyed staying up late to watch the Celtics.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Dickens and her husband John and Irene Johnson and her husband Brad; his stepson, Allan Wentworth and fiancée Stacey; five stepdaughters, Sharon Leitz and husband Roy, Rosemary Hokenson, Linda Gardner, Loretta Kundert and her husband Richard, and Ellen Wentworth and partner Charlie Murphy; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Bradbury and wife Liz; special friends, Wanda Havey and brother-in-law Robert Bradbury. He was predeceased by his wife, Lorreta Bradbury, and sisters Mikki (Ardis) Bragdon and Mary Bradbury.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Maine Coast Hospital for their outstanding care, with a sincere thank you to Dr. Salter for her exceptional care.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Bayview Cemetery, Franklin, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Franklin Historical Society, P.O. Box 317 Franklin, ME 04634.
