Surry
Kathleen Ann Davis, 68, passed away on April 2, 2022, four years after the doctors told her she only had six months to live. She was born in Bangor on March 7, 1954, the daughter of Leo and Evelyn (Barker) Cunningham.
Kathi spent her childhood growing up on the family farm, in Surry, so it was only fitting that when she was met with the news of her declining health, that her family honored her wishes to go back to the homestead where she was raised in Surry. As a child, she attended Surry and Ellsworth schools, and was a graduate of Ellsworth High School, the Class of 1972. After high school, Kathi went into the nursing program at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, from 1972-1974, and obtained her LPN license. She worked in the nursing profession for many years.
Work was only a small part of Kathi’s life. She traveled with her husband, Hiram, for many years as a representative of a local snowmobile club and a member of the Maine Snowmobile Association and also a representative to the International Snowmobile Congress, visiting many U.S. states and Canadian provinces. She enjoyed the time she had with her daughters, and you could find her reading, bird watching, crocheting or simply playing with the family cat Domino. Kathi was a member of the Buxton United Methodist Church, a former Brownie Troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America and a former superintendent of Sunday School at her church. She was also a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Kathleen will be missed by her husband of 45 years, Hiram Davis. She is also survived by her two daughters, Stephanie Gray and her husband, Kurt, of Surry and Alison Davis of Surry.
A celebration of Kathi’s life will be held at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth, on April 21, 2022, at 1 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Ellsworth, where online condolences may be shared: www.bragdonkelley.com.
