Robert Clyne Brown Jr., 60, of Trenton, died peacefully at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital in Ellsworth on Feb. 17, 2022, after a brief illness. Robert, who was fondly known by family and friends as Bobby or Booboo, was born on July 21, 1961, in Gardiner, to the late Robert C. and Joanne M. Brown.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Kimberly Gray, his sister Ellen Jo Brown and partner Leslie Rich and sister Susan Closson. Robert leaves behind his namesake, son Robert C. Brown lll, daughter Michelle R. Long and stepson Aaron E. Graham, nieces Megan L. Rich, Katie (Closson) Briggs and Amber L. Closson. Bobby also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Beacon and Boone.

Bobby was a devoted husband, passionate father, reliable friend, a raiser of rabbits, chicken farmer, dog lover and a loather of cats. He was a hard worker and selflessly put others before himself without hesitation, doing his best to ensure the happiness of others.

Robert could be found about anywhere driving a truck for anyone who would let him behind the wheel. He worked weekends for Blanchard and Gray Contractors and spent his days hauling boats for Bass Harbor Boat and then eventually for Pettegrow Boat Transport. He was fond of all his boat owners, but he talked endlessly of what he called “the Swan’s Island crew.” His skills at moving boats and placing them were unmatched and some days seemed to defy the laws of physics.

Bobby struggled with alcoholism most of his life. He found family and camaraderie at the Wednesday night AA meeting in Somesville.

Bobby was a rough, lovable, rugged, overgrown boy who had an impish and playful personality. His carpentry skills left a lot to be desired; he definitely wasn’t Bob Vila. His opinion was if it couldn’t be gorilla glued or duct taped, then it wasn’t worth fixing. He loved Mountain Dew, John Wayne was “The Man,” Perry Mason was a master and he felt everyone should listen to Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash.

Whenever asked how his day was going or how he was doing, Boo would reply, “top shelf”.

Graveside service will be announced at a later date.
