James Wade Yates Jr. died suddenly on Jan. 18, 2022. James was born in Castine and grew up in Blue Hill. He went into the Navy for one year and then came back home and settled in Orland, where he worked at the Bucksport paper mill for 42 years.
James was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and very involved in his faith. James was predeceased by his parents, James and Virginia Yates, and his sister, Helen Blake. James leaves behind his wife, Sandra Yates, children Steve Yates, Jennifer Shinozuka and Jaime Cole, grandchildren Madison Shinozuka-Lowell and Abigail Yates as well as great-grandson Bentley Reed, siblings Vivian Moon and Norman Yates and many nieces and nephews. James was dearly loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by many!
