Mary Elizabeth Veronica (Mellie) Anderson was born on Jan. 22, 1969, in Hanover, Mass., daughter of Peter Fritz and Margot Elizabeth (McCarthy) Anderson.
Mary Anderson died January 21, 2022, at 5:58 a.m., of what the medical doctors call cancer, about which they had little else to say. Mary’s experience as a patient in that industry caused her to wonder if we have gotten off track, if we are ignoring the unseen forces — ones that don’t show up under a microscope or in the statistics of “peer-reviewed” studies — that have always generated and supported life on this planet. Are we rationalizing the destructive forces we have released; pollution, chemicals, massive amounts of electromagnetic frequencies in the air around us? What effect is wrought by the manufactured division between individuals — us/them, citizen/illegal, vax/no vax, “Democrat”/“Republican” — that constantly creates fear and conflict and does not allow for collaborative problem solving? You wouldn’t run a kindergarten class the way we run this country.
By the grace of God and the help of others, Mellie found a solution to her most difficult personal problem and tried to share that solution with whoever wanted it. Working together on that process, she became particularly close to a group of women whom she loved with all her heart and will take with her wherever she goes next.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, many high-spirited friends, dear family members and a beloved cousin, Andrew C. MacDonald.
Mary is survived by Bruce Bosinger, late-inning gift from the universe, and most perfect partner for her. His care, devotion and love made dying a whole lot easier. She is also survived by a generous, devoted and inspiring group of friends, a horde of fascinating extended family, one brother, George B. Anderson of Swan’s Island, a nephew, Kieran Anderson, and an awesome cousin, also of Swan’s, Caitlin S. Trafton — light of Mellie’s life.
A memorial will be held some beautiful summer day out on Swan’s Island.
