Wayne Anthony Willigar, 64, died suddenly on Aug. 17, 2021, at his home in Ellsworth. Wayne was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to parents Patricia (Gould) and Robert Willigar on July 31, 1957.
In his glory days, Wayne was an avid goaltender. Hockey was his favorite, but he loved many sports. He enjoyed collecting comics and retro memorabilia. He lived out West for many years in California and Nevada and loved it there. However, most of all he loved the place he grew up with his family in Borough Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. Wayne was such a happy person with a great sense of humor. He loved music and adored his friends and family. He was very generous in nature and had a heart of gold. He will be missed dearly by many.
Wayne is survived by his sister Linda of Franklin, a daughter, Veronica Willigar, of San Francisco, Calif., a son, Randy Bates, of Fernley, Nev., a nephew, Andrew Willigar, of Phoenix, Ariz., and niece, Toniann Willigar-Shelly, of Wanaque, N.J.
He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, his brother, Robert A. Willigar, niece, Christina Willigar Baez, and nephew, Patrick Willigar.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that prayers be offered for Wayne at a preferred church.
