Jeffrey W. Carr, 63, passed suddenly Nov. 13, 2020, at his home in Eddington. He was born in Hartford, Conn., Sept. 8, 1957, the son of Clifford Carr and Dolores Carr Ross.

Jeff grew up in Cary Plantation and graduated from Hodgdon High School, Class of 1975. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and spent six years working as a radioman at sea. After his time in the military, Jeff spent several more years in the Coast Guard Reserves.

Following his military career, Jeff earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science from the University of Maine, Orono. From there, he was employed by Singer Link and traveled all across the United States installing flight simulators and providing training to pilots. Jeff ended up settling in Maryland, where he was subcontracted to work for NASA. After the tragic events on Sept. 11, 2001, Jeff decided it was time to return home to the state of Maine, where he was hired by Maine Coast Memorial Hospital.

Everyone who knew Jeff knew he was a man who loved solitude. Jeff took immense pride in his home, gardens and landscaping. He enjoyed all the wildlife that his landscape attracted — especially the deer, birds and turkeys. It was not uncommon for a curious doe to get caught looking in the windows of his house, and Jeff was always happy to have them as company.

Jeff is survived by his brothers, Ervin Carr of Texas and Stephen Carr of Virginia; sisters, Cheryl Cameron of Hodgdon and Jody West of Bangor; brothers-in-law, Clyde West of Bangor and Herb Evans of Levant; several nieces and nephews; as well as his extended “work family” at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, Jeff was predeceased by his sister, Carol Kneeland, and brothers-in-law, Billy Cameron and Richard Kneeland.

At Jeff’s request, there will be no formal services.
