Deer Isle
Marshall Rice Jr., son of Marshall Rice Sr. and Olive (Conary) Rice, passed away peacefully on Sept. 4, 2020. He was born in Ellsworth on June 22, 1943. He was a loving husband, father grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Marshall graduated from the University of Maine at Machias and taught science in Lincoln (middle school level), managed Atlantic Hardware in Stonington for many years and started a construction company (Moose Island Builders) working with his son and stepson in later years.
He was a Shriner, a volunteer with the Stonington Fire Department, a selectman for the town of Stonington, a member of the board at the Deer Isle/Stonington Historical Society and active in the Advent Christian Church, Stonington Methodist Church and the Deer Isle/Sunset Church.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother William Sr. (Ruth). He is survived by his wife, Janet, sons Bradford (Leslie) and Jona (Jamie), stepchildren Lois (Ed) and Darren (Heather), grandchildren Tyson, Peyton, Jackson, Remington and Thomas, sister Elaine Taggart, several nephews and niece, several great-nephews, nieces and cousins.
Marshall was a grand storyteller, had a beautiful singing voice and lived a full life. He will be forever in our hearts.

There will be a gathering to honor his memory next summer, date to be announced.
