PROSPECT HARBOR
Marilyn J. (Wallace) Butler, 87, passed away July 5, 2020, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by those who loved her. She was born to Lillian Harriman, Lawrie Wallace and Shirley Wallace in Franklin on Dec. 20, 1932. She grew up amongst several siblings at Hog Bay, where she attended a one-room schoolhouse. She told of many cherished memories there.
Mum lived a full life and provided us a carefree and loving home with hardly a dull moment. She worked seasonal jobs and later joined the staff at MCMH as a certified nurse’s aide, a position she so enjoyed and excelled at.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Dunbar, and husband, Gregory; grandchildren, Casey and Tyler Dunbar; her son, Michael Butler, and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Eric, Adam and Anna Butler; and great-grandchild, Mikey Butler; step-grandchildren, Megan Yates and Katie Murphy; nieces Victoria Kief and Cheri Wallace; and other dear family, many friends and treasured neighbors.
Mum was predeceased by her former husband, Malcolm Butler, whom she cared for during his time of need, like she had so many others; her siblings, Evans Lawrie, Thelma Butler, Juanita Alley, Dwight Wallace, Beverly Urquhart, Stuart Wallace and Duane Wallace; and her beloved nephews who left us too soon, Daniel and Jay Wallace.
You were a blessing to us, Mum, and will dwell in our hearts forever.
A private remembrance gathering will be held at the East Franklin Cemetery in August.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Hancock County SPCA, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605. Marilyn loved and cared for many animals over her lifetime.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Ellsworth, where online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bragdonkelley.com.
