
ORLAND
Maple A. Flanders (Gaspar) Conary, 87, of Orland, wife of the late Raymond T. Conary, passed away peacefully July 10, 2020, at home with her longtime caregiver and friend, Anna Jones, by her side. She was born in Waterville on March 24, 1933, the daughter of Frederick and Ellen (Hayden) Flanders.
Maple worked primarily as a homemaker, raising five children. She also worked for W.T. Grants and Mike Clough’s A&P in Ellsworth. She was also co-owner of The Katchall Trading Post in Orland.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Kathrine Reiss of Port. St. Lucie, Fla.; son, William Gaspar (Angel) of Blue Hill; son, James Gaspar (Diane) of Orland; daughter, Cindy Carney (David) of Ellsworth; and son, Richard Gaspar Sr. (Jill) of Orland; grandchildren, Christopher, Tricia, Ami, B.J., Maria, David, Teresa, Jennifer, Richard Jr. and Douglas; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Kent Conary (Donna); sisters-in-law, Jean Conary and Kathie Conary; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Raymond, on Jan. 5, 2020; her brother, Leroy Flanders and his significant other, Barbara Black of Penobscot; her sister, Louise Ward of Sedona, Ariz.; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A joint celebration of life will be held for Maple and Raymond on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at their former home on Toddy Pond, 220 Conary Way in Orland, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Special thanks are extended to the caregivers.
