ORLAND

Alan Patrick Johnson of Orland passed away June 21, 2020, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor following heart surgery. He was born Aug. 23, 1947, in Bangor, son of Merwin and Joyce (Campbell) Johnson. He was predeceased by his father; wife, Kathy; and her son, Ernest Dowling Jr.

He enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, hunting and especially his latest employment at Shaw’s in Ellsworth. He previously worked for Verso Paper Co. in Bucksport for 43 years before the company disbanded. He was a longtime board member of the Seaboard Federal Credit Union Board and was an Eastern Star Mason.

Alan is survived by his mother, Joyce Johnson; his wife of 18 years, Juanita “Jaye” (Rusnok) Johnson; children, Jarrod Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., Amanda Hopkins of Gilbert, Ariz., and Russel Johnson of Vermont; grandchildren, Zakary Johnson, Adreena Scearce, Jason Alan Johnson, Abbigail, Olivia and Isabella Hopkins and Evan; stepdaughter, Christy Baker and husband, Gabe, of Winterport, and their children Madalyn and Grace; sister, Linda Sereyko and husband, Jim, of Anchorage, Alaska, and their sons and families; and many nieces and nephews.

He had countless friends and neighbors who endured his storytelling (with lots of embellishments) and his “chicken dancing.” He will always be remembered as the “Energizer bunny.”

There are countless thank yous to our deeply loved neighbors, Betsy Grossman of Orland, Mary and Gary Bates of Orland and Debbie and Barry Fonseca, owners of Alamoosook Lakeside Inn of Orland, who were, and are, there on a continuous basis, always going to the max for us. We also thank Alan’s dear friend, Bob Dorr of Steuben, and all of Shaw’s family and customers.

Many thanks also go to the doctors, nurses and staff at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center of Bangor.

Public service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 26, at East Bucksport Church (outside with social distancing); internment with be private for immediate family only at Hillside Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home of Bucksport.
