DEBLOIS
Carlene Brockmann passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020, at her home in Deblois with her husband, daughters and sister at her side. Carlene was born on Jan. 18, 1950, in Sanford to Irene (L’Heureux) and Alfred Mathieu. She lived on Fletcher Street in Kennebunk as a child, where her father and mother owned Mathieu’s Jewelry Store until 1976. She graduated from Kennebunk High School and worked as a dental assistant in Sanford.
After moving to Washington County and marrying Joe Brockmann in August of 1995, she worked as a dental assistant in Machias, as a house manager for Addison Point, as a CRMA for Milbridge Residence, for the WHCA Housing Division in Milbridge and in security for Wyman’s in Deblois. She retired two years ago after her cancer diagnosis. The care she received from the staff at the Lafayette Cancer Center in Brewer and her home hospice workers was exceptional and her family will always be thankful for them.
While being with her family was her greatest joy, she loved to laugh with friends and putter in her garden with Joe. Her green thumb was evident not only in the garden but also in her home where her multitude of windows were filled with beautiful plants and her freezer with veggies and peaches.
Carlene is survived by her husband, Joseph Brockmann; her daughters Samantha Beal and husband, Steven, of Harrington and Roxanne Mooney and husband, Michael, of Lisbon Falls; and sons Jeromy and partner Tinamay Cropley of Ellsworth and Chris Tilton of Dexter; her sister Cecile Shields and husband, Chris, of Greenville; sister-in-law Linda Belfiore of Columbia Falls; special cousin-in-law Joan Gladky of Kings Park, N.Y.; niece Susan Smith and family of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; nephews Thomas Shields and family of Shapleigh and Jason Belfiore and family of Middle Island, N.Y.; and the loves of her life, grandchildren Hunter Beal, Hannah Beal, Halle Beal, Charlotte Mooney, Amelia Mooney, Emmett Mooney, Dominic Maurais, Desiree Maurais and Lilly Tilton. Carlene also leaves many dear friends from both Maine and Long Island, N.Y.
Carlene was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Irene, a favorite aunt, sister Cecile Mathieu and her brother-in-law Tony Belfiore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family or the Lafayette Cancer Center in Brewer.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2020, at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 51 Elm St., Cherryfield, with burial directly following at Forest Hill Cemetery, Harrington. There will be a reception at Weald Bethel Community Center, Downeast Campus of the Sea Coast Mission, Cherryfield, from noon until 4 p.m.
