GOULDSBORO
Carol L. Mosley, 71, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 28, 2020, surrounded by the people she loved the most, her family.
She was born March 17, 1948, in Columbia, the daughter of Ernest N. and Alice J. Vance. She was the oldest of four siblings, whom she remained very close to her whole life. She attended Gouldsboro Grammar School and was a 1966 graduate of Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan.
In 1966, Carol married David Moores of Winter Harbor. Together they had two sons, Randy and Shawn. They divorced a few years later. In 1977, she met the love of her life, Arnold L. Mosley, and they resided on the West Bay Road in Gouldsboro. With this marriage Carol was blessed with the addition of two stepdaughters, Deborah and Wanda.
Carol was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She had a generous heart and would help anyone in need. She had an infectious smile and witty sense of humor that could light up or change the mood in any room she entered.
Besides spending time with family, Carol was very involved with caring for them as well. We have peace knowing she will continue this role in heaven as Nanny Carol to her grandson Baily and granddaughter Krystal.
Carol spent her younger years being a devoted housewife and caregiver to her family but later went to work for Dr. Thomas Crawford and then for Sureway Transportation as a dispatcher until she retired.
Carol is survived by her mother, Alice J. Vance, her son Randy and his wife, Melanie, and her son Shawn and his wife, Chrissy. She is also survived by her two stepdaughters, Deborah and Wanda, and Wanda’s husband, John. She was Nanny Carol to her grandchildren, Katelin, Torre, Ally, Jacey, Kennedy, Baily, Allie, Brittany, Krystal and Nicholas, along with her great-grandchildren Gaven, Kayden, Aria, Leighton and Mark. She is also survived by her special friend of many years Robert Leighton and his two children, Bobbi and Shannon, whom she adored as if they were her own. In addition, she is survived by her sister Jean Mathews, sister Sandra Swan and her husband, Ronald, and brother Clayton Vance. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her beloved dog, Jasmin.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arnold, her father, Ernest, her grandson Baily and granddaughter Krystal.
The family would like to thank Danielle Joubert for her loving care, compassion and friendship that she gave to Carol over the past year.
There will be a celebration of life gathering on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the Knights of Pythias Hall in Gouldsboro from 1-4 p.m. This will be potluck, so the family asks that you bring your fondest memory of Carol and a dish to share if you choose.
“Her memory is our keepsake which with we’ll never part, God has her in His keeping, we have her in our hearts.”
Arrangments have been entrusted to Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where online condolences may be shared with the family at www.bragdonkelley.com.
