ORLAND

Brian R. Wardwell, 63, of Orland, died unexpectedly alongside his beloved dog, Kenya, on Feb. 5, 2020. He was born Nov. 30, 1956, to Jeanette M. Wardwell and the late Richard B. Wardwell.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Karen L. Wardwell, two daughters, Stormy G. Wardwell and Misty R. Sherwood and husband, Corey; grandchildren Taylor R. Wardwell, Mackayla L. Flewelling and Ricky L. Perkins; step-grandson Owen B. Sherwood; great-granddaughter Macy L. Henderson; his mother and stepfather, Jeanette and Clarence Eastman; two brothers, Johnny Wardwell and wife, Karen, and Bobby Wardwell and wife, Robin; his sister Roxanne Peak; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He had a special bond and relationship with Ralph A. Gray, either working together, hunting together or just riding around. Brian was a devoted family man and the love of his family was apparent whenever they were present or talked about. He was an owner of Robert Wardwell & Sons and B.W. Trucking, which made him a well-known person in the town and surrounding communities. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He also had rekindled his love for drag racing. He enjoyed riding around Gilpin and sitting down by the lake having a fire and a beer. His beloved dog, Kenya, would be seen with him more times than not. Many have seen her walking the aisles at Jerry’s hardware. She will be greatly missed as well.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Orland Community Center on Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to Bucksport Animal Shelter for helping to spay and neuter pets.
