SOUTHWEST HARBOR Charlotte H. Rich, 89, died unexpectedly July 16, 2019, in Southwest Harbor. She was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Laura and Joe Kane.
Charlotte was a staple to the town and everyone knew and loved her. She enjoyed eating sweets, going shopping, visiting her grandchildren and driving her kids crazy. If she wasn’t walking around town, she was probably eating at some of her favorite local places. She will always be remembered as the matriarch of our family and will be missed by all of us!
Charlotte is survived by her beloved children, Betty and Barry Archilles, Laura and Charles Dillon, Leslie and Ellen Jo Rich, Jason Farnsworth and Hazel Rich; grandchildren; Zachary, Chantelle, Jared, Amber, Kayla, Jana, Brendan, Lanicka, Lauren, Meghan and Chris; great-grandchildren Dillon, Trent, Bretton, Jade, Jacob, Emma, Aiden, Harmony and Abigail; and siblings Joe Kane, Gertrude Seeley, Arvilla Alley and Patricia Seeley; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Thank you to all the individuals who were with her in her last minutes and to all the people who reached out to our family in this time of mourning. All the support has been overwhelming.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family. All others are welcome to attend a reception at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Legion Hall in Southwest Harbor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to: Common Good Soup Kitchen, P.O. Box 265, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679 or Southwest Harbor Library, P.O. Box 157, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679.
