Sorrento
Omar L. Whalen Sr. passed away April 19, 2019, at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born in Bath, July 7, 1942, the son of Cecil and Mabel (Strout) Whalen.
Omar enjoyed camping trips with his wife and children and going for rides on his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Crystal and husband, Jim, of Buxton and Tammy and husband, Austin, of Calais; sons, Jeff and wife, Nina, of Fort Fairfield, Omar Jr. and wife, Kay, of Litchfield, Arthur and Penny of Louisiana, Lee and Carrie of Sorrento and Jamie and wife, Kaylynn, of Sorrento; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson; sister, Carol Merrill of Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Whalen. Omar had many AA friends as well as many friends at the Veterans Home.
Calling hours will be held 5-6 p.m., Apri1 27, 2019, at JordanFernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with a funeral service at 6 with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
