Margaret “Peggy” Gertrude (Swett) Oxley passed April 11, 2019, at age 97. She was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Kennebunk, daughter of Ezra and Gladys (Hatch) Swett. Peggy raised three children and was known as a hard worker her entire life, Don Wardwell’s Store, Orland, Kagan’s Shoe, Bangor, Stinson Canning, Belfast, where she also drove the work bus for nine years, and Penobscot Poultry, Belfast.
Margaret is survived by daughter Eileen Knox – Winterport; brother Charles Swett -Kennebunk; grandchildren Barbara Goodwin -Winterport, Clyde Keniston and wife, Karen,- East Orland, Denise Lindsay and husband, Ken, – Nevada, Kevin Arey and wife, Shannon, – Orland, Walter Knox Jr. and wife, Lucille, – Carmel; great-grandchildren Ryan Goodwin – Bangor, Brooke Keniston – Massachusetts, Matthew Goodwin and wife, Angela, -Bangor, Nicole Keniston and fiancé Philip Kelley II – Frankfort, Crystal Goodwin -Kentucky, Zachary Arey and Heather Ireland – Bangor, Sarah Keniston – Florida, Edgar Keniston Jr. – Winterport, Mackenzie Dyer – Orland; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents; husband, George Oxley; son Clyde Fitzgerald Jr., daughter Gloria Keniston; grandson Edgar Keniston; sisters Evelyn Shuffleburg, Lois Thayer, Avis Court; brothers George Swett, Byron Swett; special friend Dot Snowman.
Graveside services and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
