Birch Harbor
Betty Carter Chipman, daughter of Robert and Mildred Carter of Southwest Harbor, went to be with the Lord on April 4 surrounded by her husband and loving family.
Betty graduated from Pemetic High School in 1963 and then beauty school in Bangor. She married Bert Chipman and they settled in Birch Harbor. They would have been married 54 years in September.
Many of you will remember frequenting Betty’s Beauty Shop in Birch Harbor, where she delighted customers from the Gouldsboro area as well as summer residents. She valued the many friends from her shop.
Betty enjoyed making her home aesthetically pleasing, fresh-cut flowers grown by Bert, watching birds, taking walks, playing with her grandchildren, reading and loving her dog, Angel.
Betty is survived by her husband, Bert, her daughter Nicole Chipman Thomas, son-in-law Bill Thomas and triplet grandchildren, Elijah, Benjamin and Elizabeth Thomas; her son Jon Chipman, daughter-in-law Stacie Chipman and grandchildren, Jessob, Calob and Isabel Chipman; brother Bill Carter and wife, Diane, and many loved nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law George Chipman and wife, Rebecca, sisters-in-law Annabelle and Alice Chipman, and her sweet shih-tzu, Angel.
Her deceased relatives include her parents, five brothers-in-law and wives, Roger and Doris, Avery and Estelle, Leamon and Kay, Vinton, Maynard, Herbert and a very special sister-in-law, Mildred Chipman Crowley.
Betty had requested that no memorial services be held in her honor.
