ELLSWORTH
Carol Ann Norwood, 74, died of a broken heart on Nov. 21, 2018, just 52 days after the passing of her husband, Bill. Carol grew up at 29 Central St. in Ellsworth, where she enjoyed life to its fullest. She was the daughter of Clyde and Marion Brooks and sister of Gene Brooks. She met Bill in Trenton at the Rainbow Roller Rink and they shared 58 years of friendship and marriage.
Carol was the mother of Victoria Norwood Jordan (husband, Gary, and their children Andrea and Renee and Travis and Shane) of Waltham and Suzanne Norwood Miller (husband, John, and their son Aaron) of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Carol attended Ellsworth schools and was a member of the Rainbow for Girls and the First Congregational Church. She worked for the Ellsworth School Department, Hannaford and Save EZ stores. She volunteered at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and the Red Cross blood drives, taught Sunday school and was a Girl Scout troop leader.
Carol’s family was her life. She held much love, pride and appreciation in her heart for those dearest to her. She enjoyed watching her daughters and grandchildren experience many adventures at their home on the Bayside Road. Bill and Carol worked together to make their home warm and inviting on the inside and a desirable year-round playground on the outside.
Carol is survived by her children Victoria and Suzanne, grandchildren Andrea, Renee, Aaron, Travis and Shane, brother Gene, “sister” Alberta, cousins, nieces and nephews. Carol held a special place in her heart for her friend Georgia Mae Farnsworth. She leaves behind Georgianna Norwood, Charles and Marsha Scott, and her neighbors on Bayside and Alton Avenue. Carol was predeceased by her father, Clyde, in 1976, her mother, Marion, in 1990 and adopted brother Clyde Brooks Giroux.
The family would like to acknowledge the following people for their continued love and support: Dr. Stephen Nightingale, Jodi, Joyce, Rhonda and staff, Gordon and Melinda Workman, Dennis St. Peter, the Dickens family (John, Brenda, Kate and Kat) and homecare providers (Katherine, Kerri, Cate and Amy).

I’d like to write the sort of things folks read and then cut out
To tuck away and read again when there’s no one else about.
I really wouldn’t care a lot for an ode on a marble tomb
But I’d love a place in the scrapbook folks keep in the sitting room.
There will be a private burial for Bill and Carol at Woodbine Cemetery in the spring.
