Zimri R. Bridges

Obit- Zimri Bridges_VERONA ISLAND – Zimri R. Bridges, 84, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away with his loving family by his side at a Bangor hospital on Saturday, May 21, 2016. He was born on Dec. 25, 1931, the son of Oscar and Flora (Cole) Bridges Sr.

Zimri was an avid hunter who loved to hunt, especially alongside his brother-in-law, who was like a second son, Paul Webster. Zimri was a man who loved to help in any way, shape or form; whether it was family, friends or community members, he was right there to lend a hand. He loved to garden, cut wood and take care of the birds by making sure they were fed.

Zimri worked for and retired from Central Maine Power Co. He was a longtime standing member of the Rising Star Lodge No. 4 in Penobscot, joining over 50 years ago.

Zimri is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Iris, and three children: Holly Simpson and husband, Michael, Leroy Bridges and wife, Donna, and Pauline Bridges; grandchildren Heidi Veilleux and husband, Trevor, Danielle Cole and husband, Rory, Nicholas Simpson, Adam Arbo-Bridges, Jessica McDonald and husband, Adam, and Benjamin Simpson and wife, Jessica; great-grandchildren Maddison Cole, Paisley Veilleux, Makayla Cole and Reese McDonald; brothers Lloyd Bridges, Vaughn Bridges, Linwood Bridges and Oscar Bridges Jr.; sisters Carolyn Bennett, Marlene Smith and Cora Webster; also many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Ivan Bridges, Kenneth Bridges, Wyone Bridges and Charles Edward Bridges.

Memorial contributions in Zimri’s memory may be made to Rising Star Lodge No. 4, P.O. Box 158 Penobscot, ME 04476 and Anah Shiners 1404 Broadway Bangor, ME 04401.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 5-7 p.m., on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm St., Bucksport.

A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Peter Remick with Masonic Honors at 10 a.m., Friday May 27, 2016, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home. (mitchelltweedie-young.com).
