CHERRYFIELD

Mary Katherine Endre, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, teacher, mentor and friend, passed away on Sept. 25, 2018. Mary lived in Cherryfield with her husband Glen (Boo). He and their daughter Jordan, son Jacob and her stepdaughter Jyl Newenham grieve her loss. Born on July 5, 1960, in Manchester, Conn., Mary is survived by her parents, Clinton N. and Barbara A. Greene, of Malta, N.Y. Mary will be missed by brother Joseph Greene and wife, Virginia, of Halfmoon, N.Y.; brother William Greene and wife, René, of Mount Holly, Vt.; sister Ellen Burkhard and husband William of Delmar, N.Y.; brother John Greene and wife, Bonnie, of Aurora, Colo., and sister Kristen Greene and husband, Graeme Merrin, of Kapaa, Hawaii. Mary will also be missed by her brothers-in-law John Endre of Cherryfield and Jay Endre and his wife, Lynn Stillwell, of Warrenton, Va. Mary was cherished by nieces and nephews Sharon, Carl, Kathleen, Clinton, Madison, Nicole, Pat, Caleb, Ramsey, Raea, Mark, Nikki, Gavin, Morgan, Lily and Emma and grandchildren Bo, Taylor and Brooklyn. Mary will also be missed by her best friend Karen Nelson as well as many friends, colleagues, and students.

Mary was a lifelong equestrienne who loved her many pets, wonderful friends and big family vacations on Cape Cod. Mary was a naturalist by education, a keen observer of the natural world around her and shared her knowledge of plants, birds and other animals with family, friends and students. Mary also took great pride in her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. She attended Green Elementary School, Bennet Junior High and East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn. Mary then earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine at Machias, where she settled close by after graduation and worked in the family-owned Sunrise Gas and taught at Sunrise Karate and at Narraguagus Junior and Senior High School.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall Post No. 8 in Cherryfield. Please wear bright colors as Mary would have preferred.
