BAY MINETTE, ALA. AND WINTER HARBOR
Lori Ann Smith Andress followed her father into the garden, Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, surrounded by the unending love of her family in her home in Bay Minette, Ala.
Lori was born to Ann and Larry Smith on April 13, 1961. She spent her childhood in Winter Harbor, riding her bike all over town, always with a smile on her face. She was an excellent student. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1978 with honors her junior year. She met her first husband, Richard “Dick” Timmons, in seventh grade before long they had begun their family and a relationship that would last over 18 years. When Dick joined the Coast Guard in 1986, the family moved to Portsmouth, Va. There Lori worked as a waitress and in retail sales. In 1988, they moved to Mobile, Ala. She worked as manager at County Seat, where she met her friend Paula Gardner. Paula and Lori decided to start an auto paint touchup business. Lori and Dick lived in Loxley till their divorce in 1992. During her time in Loxley, she developed a friendship with Bridget Kaiser that would last until her death. She met her second husband, John Andress, in 1994. He later joined the paint business. Together they moved to Bay Minette. They were members of 3 Circles Church in Fairhope for many years. Lori ran her business, Car City Colors, for 20-plus years before moving into direct sales for Dupont.
Lori always made sure her children came first. They were taught the value of education and hard work. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She loved spending time with her family and friends both in Maine and Alabama. She enjoyed tending to her rose garden and her home. She loved listening to music and attending concerts. One of her favorite pastimes was retail therapy.
Lori was predeceased by her husband, John Andress; mother, Ann Smith and father, Larry Evans Smith Sr; grandson Seth Evan Tracey.
Lori is survived by daughters, Kristy Ann Tracey and husband, Troy, of Bay Minette, Ala.; Lori Rayner and husband Bill of Bay Minette, Ala.; son Joshua Timmons and wife Nancy of Eden, Ga.; grandchildren Adam Tracey, Caroline Tracey, Brooke Leighton and her husband, Ben, Tristan Rayner, Finn Timmons, Clara Timmons; great-granddaughter Scarlett Leighton; brother Larry E. Smith Jr. and wife, Karen, sisters Lisa Tracey of Gouldsboro, Melanie Lundy of Theodore, Ala. Also a very special aunt, Janice Myrick of Gouldsboro.
