Sandra G. Murphy, 82, loving wife, mother and Nanny, died suddenly Aug. 1, 2018, at her home. She was born in Bar Harbor Nov. 25, 1935, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy Garland (Parsons). In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by stepfather Leon “Boof” Parsons, brother-in-law Joseph Murphy, Clarence Murphy, sister-in-law Jane Murphy and cousin Merrill Bunker.
Sandra attended Bar Harbor High School and worked at Jackson Laboratory with Dr. Leroy Stevens, was a hostess at Seawall Dining Room and caretaker for many local children. She was president of Lioness, enjoyed square dancing and was active in the Housing Authority. Sandra enjoyed traveling to Florida for several years camping in their motor home and then coming home to stay to participate in cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many activities such as sports, horse shows, show choir and drama. She had many special friends whom she enjoyed going out to lunch and shopping with.
Surviving Sandra is her loving husband of 66 years, Forrest “Spider,” daughter Laurel and husband, Richard Norwood, of Southwest Harbor, son Brian and wife, Becky, of Franklin. Two granddaughters, Carrie and husband, Clint Richardson, of Franklin, Allison and husband, Nick Harms, of Arkansas. Four great-grandchildren, Mia Richardson, Benjamin Mcmaster, Harrison Richardson and Ava Richardson. Brother and sister in-law Lawrence and Belva Murphy, Phillip and Anne Murphy, Catherine Murphy and many nieces and nephews.
