GOULDSBORO – William R. Mooney, 79, passed away unexpectedly at his Gouldsboro home on Saturday, March 12, 2016.
Born in Dighton, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Alveda (Rogers) Mooney. He was also the brother of the late Joan Philbert.
He was a graduate of Taunton High School, class of 1954, and served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years as a medic. William was a member of the Ellsworth Moose Lodge, where he held the position of governor for two years. He was also a past officer of the Ellsworth Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his sister, Jean Coe and her husband, Norman, of Taunton, Mass., and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for William from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Ellsworth Elks Lodge at 317 High St.
