PENOBSCOT
Linwood A. Clement, 95, died Thursday June 14, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1923, at home on the Clement Farm in West Penobscot, the son of Mervyn W. and Hazel (Butler) Clement.
Linwood married Ruth O. (Corbin) Clement. They were married for 42 years. Both he and Ruth were members of the Penobscot United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Riverside Chapter 123, Castine Grange No. 250. He was a gentle, loving person. Linwood was a carpenter by trade, having retired from Maine Maritime Academy. He loved gardening, farming and building items in his carpenter shop.
He is survived by two daughters, Chloe Conklin of Freehold, N.J., and Donna Jones of Dade City, Fla., and 23 grandchildren. Linwood is also survived by brother Robert Clement of Hancock, sister Carolyn Smith and husband, John, of Limington, sister-in-law Mary Clement of Penobscot and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Linwood was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth Clement, one son, Charles O’Neill, two brothers Lawrence and Merle, sister, Marilyn Calder, sisters-in-law, Pauline Clement and Earnestine Clement, brother-in-law Norman Calder and niece Linda Calder.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Monday, June 18, from 4-6 p.m. at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, where a funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Castine Cemetery, Castine.
