ELLSWORTH

Rev. Darlene R. Springer, 64, went to be with her Lord and Savior May 21, 2018.

Graduating from Gould Academy and Ellsworth High School in 1971, she continued her work at H. W. Dunn & Son Inc., serving the Downeast community and beyond for over 50 years.

Becoming an ordained American Baptist minister in 1996, she broadened her service to the community and enjoyed delivering meaningful and sometimes comedic sermons.

She was a devoted and knowledgeable member of the Ellsworth Historical Society, even writing her own book, “The Great Fire of Ellsworth 1933,” and was a longtime member of the Ramassoc chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Among her many accomplishments she also found the time to manage her own business in glassware and antiques, enjoy the art of calligraphy and even learned to read and write Hebrew.

Darlene was a well-known, outstanding member of the Ellsworth community and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Join us 3-5 p.m., June 24, 2018, at the Maine Coast Baptist Church, 869 Bangor Road, Ellsworth, to reflect on the fond memories and life of Darlene. Anyone wishing to speak at 4 p.m., please call (207) 266-6897 or (207) 667-8121.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Darlene’s memory may be made to the Ellsworth Historical Society, P.O. Box 355, Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.

Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
