George Allen
On May 25, 2018, beloved husband, stepfather and grandfather George Allen quietly passed away to be with the Lord. He was the son of Carl C. Allen and Mary Kasterman, born July 18, 1929, in Arcadia, Yarmouth, Canada. George was a gentle soul who loved to play cards, bird watch and watch Red Sox baseball.
He moved from Nova Scotia to Bar Harbor in his early 20s, where he met his first wife. George worked many years on the island painting until he retired. He then moved to Winter Harbor and resided in the area for 14 years.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen Allen, stepson James Crowley, stepson Randall LaPlante and sisters Isabelle, Mary and Eleanor Allen.
George will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Virgina Allen of Cherryfield, stepchildren Paul Crowley of Bar Harbor, Constance and Tom Silliman of Joshua, Texas, Thomas and Sherri Umel of Dedham, Timothy and Tiffany Linscott of Stueben, grandchildren Brandon, Jaime, James, Josh, Cassandra and Olivia, and brother Bruce Allen of British Columbia, Canada.
On Tuesday, June 5, at 5:30 p.m., a celebration of life will be held at 336 Bald Mountain Road in Dedham. All who loved him are welcome.
