DOVER, N.H.

Harvard Philip Fowler (known as H. Philip Fowler or Phil to friends) died peacefully of natural causes May 23, 2018, in Boston, Mass., at the age of 83. Phil was born in Brooksville, March 1, 1935, to Nina and Victor Fowler. Phil was told late in life, did research and came to believe that Ralph Easton of Deer Isle was his father.

Phil is survived by: siblings -Carol Aberzik, Florida/Maine, Clara Gray, Maine, Linda Searles, Maine, David Fowler, Maine; ex-wife – Jane Edwards, Maine; sons – Doug Fowler, New York, Paul Fowler, Massachusetts; grandson – Quinton Fowler, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

He lived all of his young life on the coast of Maine with trips that he spoke of with fond memory to his aunts occasionally in the summer. He attended the University of Maine at Orono and graduated with a master’s degree in education.

An educator his whole life, Phil taught all over the United States: starting in Aroostook County, and Scarborough, and spent many years as a well-known guidance counselor in Auburn, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Arizona.

Phil decided in his 40s that his health would benefit from the dry climate of the Southwest, so he picked up his belongings, drove west and started a new life. He loved being in Tucson and seeing the Catalina Mountains from his home each day and made many valuable and lasting friendships in the area.

Phil specifically asked for no services and that people celebrate his memory and life rather than mourn his death. If anyone wants to send flowers, please use that money to donate to an educational fund of your choice.
