MOUNT DESERT – Carol Andrea Harkins Damon was born in Bar Harbor May 27, 1945. Carol passed away Nov. 21, 2015. Carol was the only child of Andrew “Jack” Harkins and Constance Seavey.
Carol loved life and loved taking photographs. Carol always had a camera nearby and would often frame and sell some of her favorite pictures. She worked as a dispatcher for the town of Mount Desert for several years and seasonally for the Chamber of Commerce. Carol was advocate of Civil Rights in the early ’60s and later enjoyed writing a weekly column for the local newspapers. She loved music, watching documentary films and was an avid reader. Carol adored her family and loved her children dearly.
Carol was predeceased by two of her children; Peter Geoffrey Lukins-1996 and Courtney Andrea Dana-2014. She was also predeceased by her beloved mother Constance Seavey, father Jack Harkins, stepfather Robert Damon and brother Herbert L. Damon-1989.
Carol is survived by her step-siblings Brian, Michael and Tammy Harkins. She is also survived by her daughter Sara Gillis and family, her siblings, Bruce Damon, Michael Damon, Laura Cross and sister-in-law Deborah Damon with their families. Carol adored her two grandsons, Cameron and Devon.
