ELLSWORTH
Ann Higgins, 68, died of lung cancer peacefully at her home on the evening of Sept. 8, 2017, with her son and his wife and her sister and her sister-in-law by her side.
Ann was born in Laconia, N.H., on Nov. 1, 1948, the third daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Douglass W. Walker. She attended public schools until her family moved to the Baltimore area. On Jan. 25, 1980, she married Liston Higgins, whom she spent 33 years making a life with. She worked at The Jackson Laboratory for several years in the histology department. Her compassion toward others, including animals, will be missed.
Ann was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her son, Stephen Sumner, and his wife, Cindy; her granddaughter, Brianne Sumner; her sisters, Barb Collamore and partner, Judi Soule, and Betsy White and her husband, Steve. In addition to her family, she leaves behind many special friends who she truly felt were her family as well.
